The Valencia City Council mobilises more than 200 personnel for the total eclipse this Wednesday. There will be traffic cuts and reinforcement of public transport.
The Valencia City Council has launched a special operation with over 200 personnel due to the total solar eclipse that will be visible this Wednesday. The phase of maximum darkness is expected between 20:32 and 20:33 hours, and the operation will be coordinated from the Municipal Operational Coordination Centre (CECOPAL).
This deployment includes the Local Police, Firefighters, Civil Protection, Red Cross, beach services, EMT, cleaning and health assistance. There will also be violet points and information media, with special attention to the coastline and the Albufera. If necessary, municipal staff from other tasks may be added.
Safety and emergencies on beaches and Albufera
The Local Police and Firefighters will use drones and aquatic rescue equipment to monitor the northern and southern beaches and the Albufera lake. The Firefighters will have a rescue boat in each coastal sector and another specifically for the lake, adapted to this protected space. Furthermore, level 3 of pre-emergency is maintained due to fire risk, which means access to the Devesa is closed and walking on forest trails is prohibited.
The Official Observation Point will occupy about 850 meters of the Malva-rosa and Cabanyal beaches, between the street of the Séquia de la Cadena and the health post number 3 of Cabanyal. There will be information, toilets, drinking water, police and firefighter presence, and a Violet Point. The rescue service will extend until 23:00 hours, with four posts, ambulances, jet skis and a mobile operations centre. Additionally, 20 chemical toilets have been installed, two of which are adapted.
Traffic cuts and public transport
From 16:00 hours, traffic restrictions may be applied in the vicinity of Malva-rosa and Cabanyal, depending on the influx and at the discretion of the Local Police. Residents, authorised vehicles, and public transport will be exempt. From 18:00, the exit via the V-15 towards the CV-500 will be cut off, both at the underpass and on the service road of Professor López Piñero Avenue, as well as restrictions in Pinedo and on the V-30.
The City Council recommends not using private cars and arriving on foot, by bus or tram. EMT will reinforce the service from 16:00 with nearly thirty additional buses, especially on lines 18, 19, 31, 32, 92, 93, 95, 98 and 99 towards the beaches, and line 25 towards Pinedo, El Saler and El Perelló. If using a car is essential, it is advised to park on Avenida dels Tarongers.
For those who want to view the eclipse, it is recommended to do so from home or a nearby location, with approved glasses and avoiding unnecessary travel. Traffic restrictions can be checked in real-time on municipal channels.
