Sagunto City Council has tendered the works to create a large inclusive urban park in Plaza Padre Jaime in Puerto de Sagunto, with a budget of 168,204 euros and an execution period of four months.
Sagunto City Council has tendered the contract for works to transform the Plaza Padre Jaime in Puerto de Sagunto into a large inclusive urban park. The base tender budget amounts to 168,204 euros (VAT included) and the execution period will be four months.
The initiative aims to completely renew facilities that show signs of deterioration and obsolescence, turning the space into a multifunctional meeting point for leisure, coexistence, and physical activity. The project particularly focuses on universal accessibility and the removal of barriers, with play areas adapted for all users.
The new park will be structured into four distinct areas. The first will be a children's play area for children under 3 years old, featuring safety flooring and elements adapted for early development. The second will be a multipurpose area with table tennis tables and a teqball table.
The third area will utilise the existing basketball court, improving the flooring and renewing the sports equipment. The fourth will be dedicated to play for children aged 3 to 12 years, with more complex equipment that promotes inclusive play and physical activity.
All urban furniture will be renewed following criteria of sustainability, accessibility, and resistance to vandalism. The park's design will follow a common theme inspired by the concept “Sea and Islands”, which will give the space its own identity and make it easily recognisable.
The councillor for Public Space and Mobility, Javier Raro, highlights that this tender “represents a change in the way we act”. Until now, “we were acting on children's play areas, mainly with shaded spaces, but now we are carrying out a major urban project that will completely modernise this area of Puerto de Sagunto with a large children's park and a large sports area.
The intervention will not be limited to Puerto de Sagunto. Next year, the City Council plans to tender a similar project in the Bicentennial Square of José Romeu, better known as Water Park, located north of the Palancia River, in the historic centre.
Raro explains that the intention is “to gradually act in the different squares of the city with this paradigm shift, without neglecting the maintenance of the various children's parks and other specific actions that need to continue to be carried out in them.
Interested companies can submit their bids through the contracting profile of Sagunto City Council. The contract includes the drafting of the project and the execution of the works, which must be completed within four months from the awarding.
