Puçol beach will host the start of the 8th stage of La Vuelta on August 29, with traffic and parking restrictions from the 27th.
The Puçol beach will become the starting point for the 8th stage of the Vuelta a España on Saturday, August 29, an event that the municipality will experience for the first time and which will require the reorganisation of traffic and parking for three days.
The neutralised start is scheduled for 13:42 from the northern parking area of the beach. The cyclists will travel along Avenida La Marina, Marjals, Camí La Mar, Caminás, and the old Barcelona road until they reach the municipality of El Puig, where the official start will be given.
This is a flat stage that, with the collaboration of the Valencia Provincial Council, will pass through towns such as Meliana, Moncada, Náquera, Bétera, Riba-roja, Cheste, Monserrat, Carlet, Algemesí, Alzira, Simat de Valldigna, and the Barx port, with a finish expected in Xeraco around 17:20.
For the locals, this event marks a milestone: it is the first time Puçol has hosted an event of this magnitude. They will be able to follow the cyclists from the beach, Camí La Mar, the urban area, or the greenway, as reported by the Puçol Town Hall.
However, the celebration comes with restrictions. The municipal bus will eliminate stops at the beach (Assagadors, Grau Vell, and Marjals) on the afternoon of August 28, and on Saturday 29, there will be no service to the beach between 12:00 and 17:00, although routes between the urban area and the developments will remain.
The Thursday market at the beach is suspended due to preparations for the event. Additionally, vehicles belonging to residents and tourists will not be allowed access to the beach area during the stage hours.
Regarding parking, no parking will be allowed on the streets from Plaza Rosa dels Vents to Estany from 7:00 on the 27th until 20:00 on the 29th. The prohibition also affects the parking areas next to Plaza Rosa dels Vents and Sol Market.
According to the Local Police, this measure will require the relocation of about 950 vehicles. To facilitate this, three parking areas in the southern zone will be established, in front of the two campsites at the beach; another in the central area, near Plaza Rosa dels Vents, in the old private campsite between Arrif and Marjals streets, with access only via Marjals street; and another in the northern area, in the terraced houses next to Estany.
