The Ontinyent City Council reminds residents and visitors that there are two points of free drinking water available during the Moors and Christians festival, located in areas of high foot traffic.
The Municipal Services department of the Ontinyent City Council has reminded that, during the Moors and Christians festival, residents and visitors have access to two points of free cold drinking water, installed last year to facilitate hydration on the busiest festive days.
One of the fountains is located in the plaza de la Coronación, one of the gathering points for participants and the public during the morning festivities. The second is situated at the junction of calle Martínez Valls with avenida Daniel Gil, a very busy area through which the Christian, Moorish, and children's parades pass.
The councillor for Municipal Services, Jordi Vallés, highlighted that “both our residents and the people who visit us during the festival can enjoy a point of free and accessible cold water, especially on days when temperatures can be high and when the streets of Ontinyent are bustling with activity and people.”
I encourage everyone to make use of these hydration points and to always remember the importance of drinking water frequently, especially during the hottest hours of the festive events,” Vallés added.
The two fountains were installed last year by the Municipal Services department, in collaboration with the public company EGEVASA, as part of municipal efforts to facilitate access to drinking water and adapt urban spaces in response to rising temperatures.
With this measure, the council aims for both attendees at the events and local residents to hydrate at no cost in the areas where there is a higher concentration of people during the main days of the festival.
