Bétera invests €10,700 in new radios for Civil Protection

Bétera acquires 10 TETRA radios for Civil Protection with an investment of €10,723, improving emergency coordination.

The Bétera Town Council has acquired 10 TETRA radios for Civil Protection, with an investment of €10,723, to improve coordination in emergencies.

The Bétera Town Council has incorporated ten new portable radios with TETRA technology for the Local Civil Protection Group. The investment amounts to €10,723.02 and is part of the Modernisation and Improvement Plan for the Local Police, as reported by the council.

The terminals allow for high-security encrypted communications (TEA2), real-time GPS geolocation, and are fully compatible with the COMDES Network of the Generalitat Valenciana, the official emergency response network. Additionally, the acquisition includes technical training for the personnel who will use them.

The mayor of Bétera, Elia Verdevío, emphasised that this action is “a fundamental investment to ensure the protection of residents.” She also noted that the new technology will be key for coordination during large events, such as the upcoming August Festivals in the municipality.

Equipping Civil Protection with tools featuring advanced technologies is essential for responding to any emergency,” Verdevío stated.

The equipment meets the technical specifications set by the Valencian Agency for Security and Emergency Response (AVSRE), ensuring its direct integration into the COMDES Network. This network guarantees coverage and interoperability between Civil Protection, the Local Police, and other security bodies during operations.

The terminals include audio encryption, a combined TETRA/GPS antenna, high-capacity batteries with dual chargers, and IP54 waterproof and dustproof certification. This ensures their operation in complex environments or adverse weather conditions.

The councillor for Police, Civil Protection, and Internal Affairs, Manuel Pérez, highlighted that the investment “responds to a commitment to improve and modernise the infrastructure and equipment of our volunteer corps and Local Police.” The new devices are compatible with the audio equipment already used by the group, allowing for immediate system activation.

With this equipment, the Bétera Town Council reinforces its commitment to prevention and attention throughout the municipality, also improving coordination at large events.
