The Constitution Square hosted the seniors' dinner of the Aldaia festivities, with nearly 2,000 attendees and tributes to three residents born in the 1950s.
The event, one of the most attended in the festive programme, once again turned the Constitution Square into the epicentre of intergenerational coexistence. Nearly 2,000 residents participated, according to the organisers, who highlighted the atmosphere of recognition and tribute to those who have contributed to the development of the municipality.
The event would not have been possible without the involvement of numerous entities and volunteers. The Clavarios of the Most Holy Christ, the Clavarios of San Roque, the Fadrinas, Red Cross, and other associations and individuals collaborated, taking care of the setup and preparation of an evening that has become a hallmark of the festivities.
To ensure that no one missed out on the celebration, dinners were also delivered to those elderly individuals who, due to various circumstances, could not travel to the square.
Three recognised journeys
After the dinner, it was time for the tributes. In this edition, the recognition was given to three residents born in the 1950s, whose commitment and dedication have left a mark on the recent history of Aldaia.
The first to receive the tribute was Pepe Murcia, architect of the Aldaia Town Hall and promoter of projects such as the Europe Square. His career has been marked by a humanistic and integrative vision of urban planning.
The second distinction went to Amparo Fuertes, dermatologist, in recognition of a professional career dedicated to health care and service to the community.
The third honouree was Enric Luján, mayor of Aldaia for fourteen years, from 1983 to 1997, and named Favourite Son of the locality in 2009, for his work at the helm of the municipality and his contribution to its development.
Emotion and tradition in the street
The festive programme also left two of its most emotional and participatory images: the traditional floral offering to the Virgin of the Assumption and the crowded Night of Lanterns.
The offering brought together numerous residents, festive entities, and groups from the municipality, who walked the streets to the parish to lay their flowers at the patroness in an act filled with emotion and devotion.
Meanwhile, the Night of Lanterns once again filled Aldaia with light and tradition with the parade of handmade lanterns made by children, families, accompanied by the music of the Colla de Dulzaineros and Tabaleters of Aldaia.
