The city will host sailing, tennis, athletics, motorsport, and popular races from September, featuring events like the Spain Sail Grand Prix and the Valencia Marathon. The grand finale will arrive in 2027 with the European Indoor Athletics Championships.
The Councillor for Sports, Rocío Gil, presented this Tuesday the ambitious calendar that will turn Valencia into a stage for major international competitions until well into 2027. The programme combines disciplines such as sailing, tennis, athletics, motorsport, taekwondo, and volleyball, with a strong emphasis on community and solidarity.
“Sport is part of the way we live in our city, which is why this final sprint of 2026 is packed with events and competitions: elite, popular, school…,” the councillor pointed out, encouraging citizens to participate. “These events contribute to leaving a triple legacy in our city: sporting, economic, and social,” she added.
The first major event will be the Spain Sail Grand Prix on 5 and 6 September, which will once again bring together the fastest F50 catamarans in the world at the Marina de València. From 21 to 27 September, women's tennis will take over with the BBVA Open Internacional de València WTA 125, featuring some of the best players on the circuit.
Popular sports will return on 27 September with the XLVIII Volta a Peu als Barris de Sant Marcel·lí i Sant Isidre, part of the Circuit de Carreres Caixa Popular. Night athletics will arrive on 17 October with the 15K Nocturna Valencia Gana Energía, one of the most prestigious events of its kind in the country.
Sailing will again take centre stage with the 52 Super Series Sailing Week, from 20 to 25 October, while on 25 October the XIV Open de Taekwondo de la Comunitat Valenciana will gather hundreds of athletes. On the same day, the Medio Maratón València Trinidad Alfonso Zurich will attract thousands of runners in one of the fastest races in the world over that distance.
1 November will see the solidarity race Valencia contra el Cáncer, mobilising thousands to support cancer research. Motorsport will close the autumn with the Gran Premio de la Comunitat Valenciana de MotoGP, from 13 to 15 November, drawing thousands of fans to the Circuit Ricardo Tormo.
The highlight will arrive on 6 December: the Maratón València Trinidad Alfonso Zurich, renowned worldwide for its organisation and high sporting level. The city will bid farewell to the year with more events to be confirmed, and the calendar will culminate in the early months of 2027 with the European Indoor Athletics Championships and the Copa del Rey de Voleibol.
The residents of Valencia will be able to enjoy these events both as spectators and participants, as most popular races are still open for registration. The City Council recommends checking the website of the Fundación Deportiva Municipal for dates and deadlines for each event.
