The Valencia City Council has begun renovation works on the sanitation network in Ernest Anastasio street, in El Cabanyal-El Canyamelar, with an investment of €151,167.
The renovation works on the sanitation network in Ernest Anastasio street, in the Poblats Marítims district, are already underway. The intervention, driven by the Department of Integral Water Cycle and executed by the UTE Sanejament de València, has a budget of €151,167.29.
The project will modernise over 120 metres of underground pipelines in the El Cabanyal-El Canyamelar neighbourhood, replacing the current pipes with high-density polyethylene pipes of 500 and 400 millimetres in diameter. The aim is to optimise water collection and reinforce drainage capacity during heavy rainfall events, improving the network's response to potential flooding.
Additionally, the construction and adaptation of nine inspection wells and the installation of 18 drains are planned. These improvements will increase surface drainage capacity and help prevent subsurface incidents, according to the city council.
The action will benefit 19,429 people residing in the area, a neighbourhood that will see an enhancement of an essential service for their daily lives. The councillor for the Integral Water Cycle, Carlos Mundina, stated that the intervention “strengthens an essential infrastructure for the daily life of the neighbourhood and improves the city’s response capacity to heavy rains.”

During the development of the works, a specific traffic plan will be implemented to coordinate diversions and minimise disruptions to traffic. The city council has guaranteed that pedestrian access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained at all times.
With this action, the Valencia City Council continues the renewal of basic networks in the neighbourhoods, adapting urban services to the current needs of the citizens. The works add to other similar interventions in the district to improve the city’s hydraulic infrastructure.
