The Oliva Town Hall has issued a series of recommendations for enjoying the total solar eclipse next Wednesday, August 12, without risking eye safety.
Next Wednesday, August 12, a total solar eclipse will be visible from Oliva. Given the excitement generated by the phenomenon, the Town Hall wants to remind residents of the basic precautions to observe it without harming their eyes.
The main warning is clear: never look directly at the Sun without certified protection. The only valid glasses are those that have the certification "EN ISO 12312-2:2015" and the CE marking, if purchased within the European Union.
Additionally, the council emphasizes that the glasses must cover the entire field of vision and be in perfect condition. Even when using certified glasses, it is not recommended to look at the Sun for more than one minute at a time.
The Oliva Town Hall also warns that conventional sunglasses, tinted lenses, welding glasses, or non-certified filters for binoculars and telescopes are not safe and are strongly discouraged.
For those planning to travel to find a better observation point, it is recommended to plan the trip in advance and anticipate possible crowds. It is also advisable to protect against the heat: bringing water, a cap, and sunscreen will be essential, as the event will take place in the middle of summer.
