The Aldaia council has approved the declaration of 'Year Guillot' for the 2026-27 season, a tribute to Valencia legend Vicent Guillot on the occasion of his 85th anniversary. Valencia CF will join the initiative with various actions.
The Aldaia Town Hall approved in the municipal plenary held this Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the declaration of 'Year Guillot' for the 2026-27 season, a recognition of the figure of former footballer Vicent Guillot on the occasion of his 85th anniversary. The initiative, which will involve the participation of Valencia CF, aims to highlight the legacy of one of the great legends of the Mestalla club.
The mayor of Aldaia, Guillermo Luján, warmly welcomed Vicent Guillot and thanked him, on behalf of all the residents of the municipality, for carrying the name of Aldaia around the world. The event was also attended by another Valencia legend, Juan Sánchez, Aldaia journalist Fran Guaita, and Pepe Villegas, representing UD Aldaia CF.
For Valencia CF, this initiative represents a source of pride and the club will participate jointly with the Aldaia Town Hall during the 2026-27 season in the celebration of this significant anniversary. Throughout the campaign, various actions will be carried out starting from August 2026.
Vicent Guillot, born on July 15, 1941, shone during his time with VCF Mestalla and officially debuted with the Valencia first team in LALIGA on September 3, 1961, at La Romareda, against Real Zaragoza. The forward formed a great attacking partnership with Waldo and was coached by Món Suárez and Alfredo Di Stéfano, among others.
The Aldaia native played for Valencia CF for eight seasons (1961-62, 1967-68, and 1969-70), appearing in 289 matches in which he scored 96 goals and provided 69 assists. Additionally, he won two Inter-Cities Fairs Cups (now the UEFA Europa League) in 1962 and 1963, and the Copa de España in 1967.
After his playing career, Guillot served as the director of the VCF Academy for ten years and currently holds the honorary president position of the Footballers' Association. His career makes him a key figure in Valencia's football history and a role model for new generations.
The 'Year Guillot' will coexist with the various actions of the 'Year Claramunt', another initiative promoted by the Aldaia Town Hall to honour football legends linked to the municipality. In this way, Aldaia reinforces its commitment to valuing its sports heritage and its historical connection with Valencia CF.
The events scheduled from August 2026 will be announced over the coming months, and are expected to include cultural, sporting, and commemorative activities for Guillot. The residents of Aldaia will be able to participate in the various proposals organized both in the municipality and in collaboration with the club.
The declaration of 'Year Guillot' represents a recognition of the career of an athlete who has been and continues to be a reference for Valencia football. With this initiative, Aldaia and Valencia CF join forces to keep alive the memory of their great figures and pass on their legacy to future generations.
The Aldaia Town Hall has highlighted the importance of this anniversary and has thanked Valencia CF for its willingness to collaborate in the celebration. During the 2026-27 season, fans and residents will be able to enjoy a special programme that will pay tribute to one of the club's most beloved legends.
