The city joins the V Urban Art Route VCF, promoted by the VCF Foundation and the Valencia Provincial Council. The mural will be commissioned and will be part of a tour of 32 works in the province.
Ontinyent will have an urban art mural linked to Valencia CF as part of the V Urban Art Route VCF, an initiative promoted by the VCF Foundation and the Valencia Provincial Council through València Turisme. The city was selected after the application period opened to municipalities between 17 July and 4 August.
In this fifth edition, the route includes four new municipalities: Ontinyent, Moncada, Serra, and Manises. With these additions, the route will feature 32 murals distributed across 31 municipalities in the province of Valencia, with its starting point at the Camp de Mestalla.
The Vice President of the Valencia Provincial Council, Natàlia Enguix, highlighted that the initiative "combines culture, urban art, sport, and tourism promotion, four elements that allow us to project our city and our region beyond our borders." Enguix emphasized that "for the Provincial Council, it is especially satisfying that Ontinyent is present in this fifth edition."
The Councillor for Youth of the Ontinyent City Council, Àlex Borrell, has positively assessed the incorporation and noted that "urban art is an expression particularly close to young people and a way to transform public spaces into areas of creativity, participation, and identity." Borrell added that "Ontinyent has a great cultural and artistic tradition, and we want to continue incorporating new forms of expression."
Unlike the murals in Moncada and Serra, which will be chosen through a merit-based competition with three finalist artists per municipality, those in Ontinyent and Manises will be commissioned. This route allows for the direct selection of the artist, which speeds up the process and ensures a proposal tailored to the designated space.
The route, which began five years ago, has expanded across various Valencian regions with works that connect the local dimension of the club with national and international projection. For Ontinyent, the mural will represent a new point of interest in its urban landscape and will strengthen its presence in an initiative established throughout the province.
The project aims to create new tourist and cultural attractions and to enhance the sense of belonging to the territory. The artist, exact location of the mural in Ontinyent, and execution dates for the work have yet to be announced.
