The Valencia City Council activates a special plan for tomorrow's total solar eclipse, which includes access restrictions to Malva-rosa beach, the l'Albufera Natural Park, and the El Saler forest.
The city of Valencia is preparing for tomorrow's total solar eclipse on August 12, with a special security device that will limit traffic at several key points. The councillor for Firefighters and Civil Protection, Juan Carlos Caballero, has announced that the Generalitat has activated level 3 of pre-emergency (maximum risk) of the Previfoc plan, which entails the closure of natural parks in the provinces of Castellón and Valencia.
The restrictions will affect the forest area of the l'Albufera Natural Park, meaning access to the southern beaches will be closed, except for residents, authorised individuals, and public transport. The Devesa del Saler forest will be closed throughout the day due to fire risk, and access to the apartments will only be allowed via the main roads. The beaches and restaurants in the area will have limited access until 18:00.
From 18:00, the exit from Valencia via the V-15, which connects to the Saler motorway (CV-500), will be cut off. The underpass and service road on Professor López Piñero Avenue will also be closed, along with other points connecting to Pinedo. The CV-500 will be closed in both directions before entering the forest area, and access from the V-30 will be restricted.
In the Malva-rosa beach area, where the official observation point will be located, traffic will be restricted from 16:00, with permeable cuts that may be extended depending on attendance, similar to the device used on San Juan night. Councillor Caballero has insisted that “the priority for viewing the eclipse should be to leave the car at home and use public transport or walk.”
From early morning, water and cooling diffusion cannons will be activated in the Devesa forest as a preventive measure against fires. The municipal Mobility and Local Police services remind that the cuts on the northern beaches (Malva-rosa and Cabanyal) will apply from 16:00, except for residents, authorised individuals, and public transport.
Residents and visitors are advised to plan their journeys in advance and use public transport to access the observation areas. The expectation is that the restrictions will be lifted progressively once the eclipse is over.
