The City Council invests €1.49 million to replace 1,045 luminaires with LED in La Torre, El Forn d'Alcedo, and Castellar-l'Oliveral, with remote management.
The councillor for Technical Central Services and acting mayor of Valencia, Julia Climent, visited the public lighting renovation works in La Torre, El Forn d'Alcedo, and Castellar-l'Oliveral on Monday, three districts of Pobles del Sud that suffered the effects of the storm in autumn 2024. The intervention, with a budget of €1,489,957.01, includes the installation of 1,045 new LED light points.
The works include the removal of road poles, facade arms, and other obsolete elements, which will be replaced by new generation streetlights and wall-mounted supports. The new luminaires will incorporate remote management systems that will allow monitoring of the network remotely and adjusting its operation to optimise energy consumption.
This action responds to the City Council's commitment to recover and improve public services in the districts affected by the storm. It is not just about replacing the lighting, but about taking advantage of the intervention to provide these population centres with a more modern, efficient installation that is prepared for the future,” Climent stated.
The councillor also emphasised that the renewal will increase the presence of light points in public spaces and promote more uniform lighting. “We want the residents of the districts to have better-lit streets and an infrastructure that offers greater services with lower consumption,” she added.
Actions by district
The intervention will allow for the renewal of around 250 light points in La Torre, more than 160 in El Forn d'Alcedo, and nearly 630 in Castellar-l'Oliveral. In La Torre, the area of action includes streets such as Manuel Iranzo, Maria Ros, Alexandre de Laborde, the real de Madrid avenue, and the Sant Jordi neighbourhood.
In El Forn d'Alcedo, work is being carried out on the street del Guadalquivir, the entrance to Casa dels Minguets, the camino de Alabau, the plaza de l'Església del Forn d'Alcedo, the street de Sedaví, and the entrance to Casa de Queradilla. The action in Castellar-l'Oliveral covers, among others, the camino del Ribàs, the street de Pastor Aycart, the carretera del Pi, the avenue del Doctor Ruiz i Comes, and the camino del Tremolar.
The works are divided into five lots: lot 1 (La Torre) and lot 2 (El Forn d'Alcedo) are awarded to Imesapi, SA, with budgets of €389,529.50 and €232,165.92, respectively. Lots 3, 4, and 5, corresponding to Castellar-l'Oliveral, total €868,261.59 and are executed by Etralux, SA (lots 3 and 4) and Sociedad Ibérica de Construcciones Eléctricas, SA (lot 5).
The five contracts have an execution period of five months from the signing of the verification acts of the layout. With this replacement, the council is moving towards a more efficient lighting network prepared for smart management, reducing installed power and improving service quality in these areas.
