The extraordinary plenary session of Manises approved a credit modification of €7.3 million to finance 17 new projects in infrastructure, social services, and public space.
The Manises City Council approved on August 7, in an extraordinary plenary session, a modification of the investment annex of the 2026 budget that incorporates 17 new projects for a total amount of €7,316,902.13. The aim is to respond to emerging needs and improve municipal services.
The measure was passed with 10 votes in favour from the governing team, made up of APM-Compromís and PSPV-PSOE (5 each), while the 8 votes against came from the opposition groups, with 4 from the Popular Party and 4 from VOX. The local government described the opposition's rejection of an initiative that, they claim, benefits the citizens as “unprecedented”.
Highlighted Investments
The largest allocation, of €5,254,580.90, will be dedicated to the expropriation of land linked to the PAI of Obradors-Montepío. This is followed by one million euros for the asphalting of streets and €316,073.76 for the urbanisation of Cor de Jesús square, whose works will resume after the discovery of a Civil War shelter in the area.
The replacement of the retaining wall in the Barranquet industrial estate will also be financed, with €133,559.32, and the improvement of road signage, with €48,400. In terms of maintenance, €48,400 has been allocated for the repair of the general sewer system and €18,089.52 for machinery and facilities.
The social sector receives a boost with €73,500 for the renovation of Social Services buildings and €63,836.40 for the municipal coexistence centre for seniors 9 de Octubre. Culture also has allocations: €95,772.61 to improve cultural buildings and €34,000 for the Germanies auditorium.
Other projects include €83,769.76 for the Youth Plan, €73,502.59 to finalise the indoor pool, and €10,023 for Christmas lighting. The remainder, to complete the €7.3 million, is distributed in minor improvements worth €63,394.47.
With this modification, the total volume of municipal investments for 2026 rises to €8,605,693.08. The City Council emphasises that these projects aim to advance towards a “more modern, accessible city prepared to face future challenges.”
