The City Council of Sagunto has called for a minute of silence this Friday at noon for the alleged misogynistic murders of two women in Murcia and Llanes (Asturias). Members of the Corporation and local residents gathered at the municipal buildings.
The Equality Area of the Sagunto City Council promoted a gathering of condemnation this Friday at midday, at the doors of the municipal buildings, to denounce the alleged misogynistic murders of a 44-year-old woman in Murcia and another 50-year-old in Llanes (Asturias).
Members of the Municipal Corporation, City Hall staff, residents, and representatives of groups and associations supported the minute of silence, which was held at 12:00 hours.
The official data handled by the council reflects that 2025 ended with 47 women murdered, while so far in 2026 there have already been 35 fatalities. Since 2003, when the figures began to be recorded, misogynistic violence has claimed the lives of 1,376 women.
Additionally, according to the same sources, 68 minors have been murdered since 2013 due to vicarious violence, and in 2026 three crimes of this type have been recorded.
The Equality delegation reminds that anyone who suspects a case of violence has a civic duty to call 016 or the emergency phone number 112.
The Women's Attention Service of the Equality Area is available in person from Monday to Friday, with prior appointment recommended, although it is also attended without an appointment in cases that require it. For urgent help, the Centre Dona 24 Hores of the Generalitat Valenciana can be reached at 900 580 888. Calls to 016 are not recorded on the bill, although the area warns that it should be deleted from the call log of the device.
