The northern coast of the province of Valencia, where Sagunt is located, will be under an orange alert for extreme heat this Wednesday. The 112 Comunidad Valenciana and AEMET have issued the warning between 13:00 and 20:59, with forecasts of up to 43 degrees.
The Sagunt City Council has issued a series of recommendations for citizens to cope with the hottest hours of the day. These include avoiding sun exposure during peak hours, wearing light and light-coloured clothing, and drinking water frequently.
Particular attention should be paid to the most vulnerable groups: children under 5, seniors over 65, people with obesity, those who are ill or taking certain medications, and those engaging in physical exertion. The council reminds that no one should be left inside a closed vehicle.
To help withstand the heat, the municipality has a network of over 30 climate shelters distributed throughout the area. The complete list can be downloaded in PDF format from the official Sagunt City Council website.
Regarding food, light meals rich in water and minerals, such as fruits and vegetables, are recommended. Prolonged exercise during the hottest hours should also be avoided.
