The 112 emergency service has activated the red alert for high temperatures for Wednesday, August 19. The Mislata City Council cancels outdoor activities and extends the hours of the municipal pool.
The emergency service 112 of the Generalitat Valenciana has activated the Emergency Plan for Adverse Meteorological Phenomena at red level due to high temperatures for the Mislata area. According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the extreme heat episode is expected on Wednesday, August 19, from 1:00 PM to 8:59 PM.
In light of this situation, the Mislata City Council has established a package of extraordinary measures affecting municipal activities and public services. The aim is to protect citizens during the hours of greatest heat intensity.
The summer schools and sports camps taking place indoors with air conditioning will continue as normal. However, all outdoor activities are cancelled from 1:00 PM, with the only exception being those held at the municipal pool.
Activities taking place in indoor facilities without cooling will also be suspended. The council recommends that families stay alert to communications from the centres to know if their specific activity will continue or be suspended.
The municipal pool will extend its hours until 9:00 PM on August 18 and 19, as a measure to provide a space for thermal relief. Conversely, the municipal cemetery will remain closed during the afternoon of Wednesday.
The City Council reminds that Climate Shelters are available for those in need. The council urges everyone to take extra precautions: avoid direct sun exposure during the hottest hours of the day, stay well hydrated, and pay special attention to the elderly, children, and vulnerable individuals.
