The Baixada del Crist, the Diana de Gala, the Missa Major and the Morenet procession have marked the weekend in Ontinyent. The mayor Jorge Rodríguez and the vice president of the Diputación, Natàlia Enguix, have participated in the events.
Ontinyent has experienced one of the most intense weekends of its Moors and Christians festivities, with the main religious events in honour of the Santíssim Crist de l'Agonia. After the recreational activities on Saturday afternoon, Sunday was entirely dedicated to tradition.
The activity began at 7:30 in the morning with the Missa de Campanya, celebrated outdoors. Following this, the Diana de Gala paraded through several streets of the city until reaching the plaza Major, where the Missa Major took place in honour of the patron at the iglesia de Sant Carles.
In the afternoon, the image of the Morenet was taken in procession through the streets of Ontinyent, culminating the religious events with its return to the iglesia de Sant Carles. The mayor of Ontinyent, Jorge Rodríguez, the vice president of the Diputación de Valencia, Natàlia Enguix, and several councillors from the town hall participated in these events.
The Baixada del Crist, celebrated on Saturday, led to this Sunday of religious fervour, which gathered faithful and visitors in the historical centre of the town. The festivities continue with recreational and cultural events over the coming days.
