The Generalitat activates the emergency plan and level 3 pre-emergency for fires, while Oliva expands lifeguard services on its beaches in anticipation of visitors.
The municipality of Oliva is preparing for the solar eclipse on August 12 with a special security device. The Generalitat Valenciana has activated the Territorial Emergency Plan of the Valencian Community (PTECV) and established the level 3 Pre-emergency due to the risk of forest fires for the entire day, starting at 00:00 hours.
The mayor of Oliva, Yolanda Pastor, presided over the CECOPAL meeting this morning to analyse the situation and coordinate preventive measures. The council has announced that it will expand the lifeguard service on the beaches during that day, in light of the expected influx of people who will travel to observe the phenomenon.
The level 3 pre-emergency entails significant restrictions in the natural environment. Access for people on paths and cross-country is prohibited, as well as circulation on tracks and forest paths with any type of vehicle, bicycle, or on foot within the natural parks, including the Parc Natural de la Marjal Pego-Oliva.
Construction and work in forested areas or their surroundings are also suspended, along with the recreational use of fire and any type of authorization for sporting circulation. Generally, lighting any type of fire in forested areas and their influence zone is prohibited.
The Oliva City Council reminds that only information published on official channels should be followed and provides citizens with emergency phone numbers: 112 for the Valencian Community and 092 for the Local Police of Oliva.
For residents and visitors, the recommendation is to exercise extreme caution in forested areas and to follow the instructions of emergency services throughout the day on August 12.
