The glasses, which comply with ISO 12312-2 standards, will be distributed while supplies last on Tuesday, August 11 at the following locations during their usual opening hours: Tourist Info Cullera, Casa de la Cultura, Oficina ATÉN, and the Botiga de Mari Tere in Raval de Sant Agustí.
The council has stressed the need to enjoy the event responsibly and has reminded that eye protection is essential to avoid irreversible injuries. One should never look directly at the Sun without specifically approved glasses.
Special security measures
To ensure the safety of citizens, the Town Council has established the CECOPAL, which will coordinate a special device made up of various municipal services and security and emergency bodies.
Among the main measures, access to mountain areas will be allowed exclusively on foot, and vehicle traffic will be restricted, allowing entry only for local residents. The Castell de Cullera and the Sanctuary of the Mare de Déu del Castell will remain closed in the afternoon, and access to the Ermita dels Sants de la Pedra will be prohibited.
The lifeguard service on the beaches will be extended until 21:00, and the presence of Local Police, Civil Protection, Civil Guard, and emergency services throughout the city will be reinforced to ensure a quick response to any incidents.
Recommendations to protect eyesight
The Town Council has prepared a guide of recommendations, disseminated through its communication channels, reminding that sunglasses, X-rays, photographic negatives, homemade filters, or any other improvised system are not safe.
Telescopes, binoculars, or cameras should also not be used without a specific solar filter, as they can cause serious eye injuries. Approved glasses are the only valid protection for directly observing the eclipse.
Those interested can collect their glasses on Tuesday, August 11, at the indicated points, while supplies last. It is recommended to arrive early to ensure availability.
