Bétera awards contract for the ethical management of its feline colonies

The Bétera Town Council will invest €57,966 per year to sterilise, identify and vaccinate the cats in the municipality's colonies over the next four years.

The Bétera Town Council has awarded the new contract for the ethical management and control of the municipality's feline colonies, a service that will have an annual investment of €57,966.98, VAT included. The tender guarantees the provision of the service for the next four years and reinforces the commitment of the Camp de Túria council to animal welfare and community coexistence.

The contract will allow the Health Department to have the necessary financial and technical means to carry out the sterilisation, identification through microchipping, deworming and vaccination of the registered specimens in the locality in a professional manner.

The Mayor of Bétera, Elia Verdevío, has stated that the implementation of this service represents "a great step forward for Bétera in the government's commitment to comply with new regulations and to ensure a harmonious relationship between the community and the cats of the municipal feline colonies."

The council has also wanted to highlight the work done by the volunteers of the feline colonies, who with their commitment and dedication have contributed to the care and attention of the animals in recent months.

The Health Councillor, Carlos Abad, has emphasised that "for a municipality like Bétera, with 30,000 inhabitants, taking this step means professionalising an essential service for public health and neighbourly coexistence. With this contract, we achieve a real balance between respect for animal life and the residents' right to clean and peaceful environments."

Additionally, the Bétera Town Council has requested that the volunteers caring for the feline colonies formally submit the census of the colonies for which they are responsible through the Entry Register, either in person at the municipal offices or via the Electronic Headquarters. With this measure, the council aims to coordinate the planning of the service's development and prioritise sterilisation within the short-term objectives defined.
