The Ontinyent City Council has awarded CRIMSA the construction of 12 homes in the La Vila neighbourhood, including garages and commercial premises, for 3.47 million euros. The works are set to begin in the last quarter of 2026.
The Ontinyent City Council has awarded the Valencian company Construcciones, Rehabilitaciones, Instalaciones y Mantenimientos SA (CRIMSA) the project for the construction of 12 new homes in the La Vila neighbourhood, a project that includes garages, ground floor commercial premises, and urban improvements to the street and access to the building. The contract, amounting to 3,471,619.82 euros (VAT included), is part of the municipal plan to recover the historical ensemble.
The mayor of Ontinyent, Jorge Rodríguez, highlighted that this initiative "is a clear example of the commitment the Ontinyent Government is making towards housing and, at the same time, towards recovering and revitalising spaces in our historical centre that have enormous potential." According to Rodríguez, "these are 12 new homes that will bring more life to La Vila, generating new opportunities for families and for the development of the neighbourhood."
For his part, the councillor for Territory, Óscar Borrell, recalled that this initiative "originates from the ruling related to the former Valencian Housing Institute, and allows us to provide a response that goes beyond merely fulfilling an obligation, as it transforms a situation that has been pending resolution for years into an opportunity to generate housing and, at the same time, recover and revitalise a very important part of our urban heritage."
Borrell emphasised that the initiative "represents a very significant investment of 3.47 million euros in an area that needs to continue receiving boosts to consolidate its recovery," and pointed out that "the goal is for these new homes to contribute to making La Vila a more vibrant neighbourhood, with more activity and new opportunities for people who want to establish their life projects there."
The start of the works is scheduled for the last quarter of 2026, so that, once the corresponding preliminary procedures are completed, the works can begin before the end of the year. This initiative is part of the PERI of the historical ensemble of La Vila, which seeks to repopulate the old town and improve its urban environment.
CRIMSA is a Valencian company with human capital from Ontinyent, with recent experience in the city: it has carried out the works for the new La Beneficencia Senior Residence and the renovation and rehabilitation interventions of the Ermita de Santa Anna and the Santa Maria school. The same company has also been awarded the project for the consolidation of walls and party walls and the adaptation of lots on Muralla 1-Trinitat 52, for 62,799 euros (VAT included), an intervention that the City Council will carry out subsidiarily in this area of the historical ensemble.
With this investment, the council continues its line of work to recover the La Vila neighbourhood, a site with great heritage potential that seeks to attract new residents and economic activity.
