The Major Festivals of Tavernes de la Valldigna will take place from September 10 to 20 with free concerts, competitions, theatre, and traditional events. The lineup includes La Casa Azul, tributes to Nino Bravo and Isabel Pantoja, and a festival book commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Agrupament Escolta Valldigna.
Tavernes de la Valldigna is all set for its Major Festivals of 2026, which will be held from September 10 to 20. The mayor, Lara Romero, and the councillor for Festivals, Carlos Torres, presented the complete programme yesterday, which combines major concerts, family shows, and traditional events so that all residents can find their space.
The traditional opening will be marked by the inaugural speech from the Senior Citizens' Theatre Group, kicking off eleven days of intense activities. The programme includes everything from dances and orchestras to paella competitions, as well as children's performances and very special tributes.
One of the highlights will arrive on Friday, September 11, with the free concert by La Casa Azul in the main square, followed by a performance from DJ Totote. The next day, Saturday 12, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Xarangues Competition, a contest that has become a classic in the municipality, and in the evening, the musical Kronos will take the square.
Sunday 13 will be dedicated to tradition and community participation with the decorated streets competition, and the Societat Instructiva Unió Musical de Tavernes will offer an emotional tribute to Nino Bravo with the collaboration of four great voices. The event aims to remember the singer, who is closely linked to the region.
The second week will kick off on Tuesday 15 with a showcase of local dance schools. On Wednesday 16, the show España en un Suspiro will take a journey through the great artists of Spanish music. Thursday 17 will be a day especially designed for the elderly, featuring the traditional giant paella from Galbis and a musical tribute to Isabel Pantoja in the evening.
Friday 18 will bring the much-anticipated paella night, enlivened by the Scream orchestra, while Saturday 19 will see the Montecarlo orchestra set the rhythm for the costume night. Two events that will once again fill the main square with music and community spirit, as announced by the town hall.
Young people also have their space. On Saturday 12, there will be a double event with the Remember party and the Bendita Locura party, while Saturday 19 will host the Gran Festa Jove, featuring various DJs and gift giveaways. For the little ones, Sunday 13 has La Colla Pirata prepared; on Thursday 17, the Children's Costume Ball with the performance A Xalar by Trobadorets; and on Sunday 20, the children's theatre WOOOW.
Religious and processional events will also be very present, with the descent and ascent of the Christ of the Blood, the procession of the Divine Aurora, and the offering to the Virgin of Lourdes. The grand finale will be the show La Pepa by Pepa Cases, and the traditional fireworks display in the main square on Sunday 20.
The festival book, designed by Joan Meló Ferri, is one of this year's novelties. Its cover pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Agrupament Escolta Valldigna, an entity that, in the words of the mayor, "has spent half a century sowing values, solidarity, and commitment to our town." The book will be available from Monday, August 3, at the Town Hall and the Tourist Office at the beach.
Mayor Lara Romero highlighted that "we have prepared a very complete programme so that everyone, regardless of age, can feel the festivals as their own." Romero emphasised the combination of major concerts with more traditional events to ensure that the festivals remain "a space for meeting, coexistence, and pride in our town."
For his part, the councillor for Festivals, Carlos Torres, thanked the efforts of local associations and all the people who make the programme possible. "We put a lot of enthusiasm into planning activities, both those that are already traditions and the new proposals," Torres stated, insisting that without community collaboration, none of this would be possible.
This year's festivals present an opportunity for residents and visitors to enjoy a varied offer, with proposals ranging from live music to the most rooted events. The complete programme can be consulted in the festival book, which will be available at the indicated points starting Monday.
