The Oliva City Council has begun cleaning the pond at the Parc de l'Hort de la Bosca to remove invasive species and prepare for the reintroduction of native wildlife.
The Oliva City Council, through the departments of Citizen Participation and Environment, has launched an environmental recovery project for the pond at the Parc de l'Hort de la Bosca. The aim is to improve the condition of the area and promote the presence of native species.
During this month, the pond has been drained and cleaned to eliminate invasive species such as exotic turtles and the American crayfish. The mosquito fish, an invasive species that requires little water to survive, will also be removed.
Once these actions are completed, it is planned to refill the pond at the end of August and prepare it for the reintroduction of native wildlife.
In early September, there will be a release of native frogs from the Aquaculture Centre of Palmar of the Generalitat Valenciana.
With this action, the Oliva City Council continues to work on the conservation and recovery of the natural spaces in the municipality, promoting native biodiversity and combating invasive species.
