Manises will participate in the V Urban Art Route of Valencia CF with a large-format mural on the facade of the Alberto Arnal pavilion, which will pay tribute to two local footballers who reached the elite.
The facade of the Alberto Arnal pavilion in Manises will host a large-format artistic intervention as part of the V Urban Art Route promoted by Valencia CF. The city thus joins Ontinyent, Serra, and Montcada in an initiative that combines sports, culture, and urban art in various municipalities of the Valencian Community.
The mural will pay tribute to Alberto Arnal and Luis Vilar, two footballers born in Manises who went on to wear the Valencia CF jersey and compete at the top level of Spanish football. The choice of the pavilion as the venue reinforces the symbolic nature of the work, as two of the main sports facilities in the locality bear their names.
The Councillor for Tourism of the Manises City Council, Javier Mansilla, has highlighted that the initiative represents "an extraordinary opportunity to showcase a very important part of our identity." In his opinion, the mural will allow for the recognition of two local icons and, at the same time, will offer a new tourist and cultural attraction for those visiting the city.
We want this space to become a meeting point where sport, art, and local history interact and project the image of Manises," Mansilla stated.
The relationship between Manises and Valencia CF goes beyond these two players. The city has a strong Valencianist tradition thanks to the Peña Valencianista El Pinxa, which for decades has organized trips for fans to Mestalla. Additionally, the proximity to the Paterna Sports City has allowed many young residents of Manises to pass through the club's youth categories.
The Valencia CF schools have also periodically developed camps and recruitment days at the sports facilities in Manises, strengthening the ties between both entities. With this initiative, the City Council reaffirms its commitment to sports and cultural heritage as elements of tourist dynamism and collective identity.
The mural will become a new point of interest for locals and visitors, who will be able to discover the story of two athletes who brought the name of Manises to the elite of Spanish football.
