The Valencia Provincial Council and four municipalities in l'Horta Nord are executing improvements to the pavement and signage of the V-21 service road. The works, which will last three months, are already visible from the roundabout accessing Port Saplaya.
The pavement and signage improvement works on the V-21 service road are now visible from the roundabout accessing Port Saplaya in Alboraia. The resurfacing of a road that showed evident deterioration is progressing well, as confirmed by political leaders during an on-site visit.
The second vice president of the Valencia Provincial Council and head of the Roads area, Reme Mazzolari, has supervised the works alongside the acting mayor of Alboraia, Susana Cazorla, and their counterparts from Meliana, Foios, and Albalat dels Sorells. The project is funded by a grant from the Provincial Council and is being carried out following an agreement between the four municipalities.
The intervention affects 2.8 kilometres between Port Saplaya and the boundary between Albalat dels Sorells and Albuixec. This road, initially designed for agricultural use, has become a strategic connection for mobility between the municipalities of l'Horta Nord and the northern access to Valencia.
The current surface shows cracks, ruts, and depressions that compromise the safety and comfort of circulation. To address this, the project includes removing the damaged asphalt layer, repairing the cracks, and laying a new surface layer. In the most affected sections, the base of the pavement will be reinforced and rebuilt.
Additionally, horizontal and vertical signage will be renewed throughout the route, with new speed limits, overtaking prohibitions, transverse alert bands, and specific measures at points with higher accident rates. Safety barriers and other containment elements will also be replaced.
The works are being carried out in three phases to maintain accessibility to the economic activities in the area, especially for agrifood companies. The expected execution period is three months.
During this time, residents of Alboraia and nearby municipalities will need to drive cautiously through the construction areas, which will have provisional signage and occasional detours to ensure road safety.
