The Sagunto City Council has welcomed young athlete Aleix Rivas after he was proclaimed the Spanish children's champion of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Mayor Darío Moreno highlighted his future and his role as an inspiration.
The council chamber of the Sagunto City Council hosted a recognition event this Tuesday for young athlete Aleix Rivas, who has been proclaimed the Spanish champion of Brazilian jiu-jitsu in the A category (up to 26 kilos). The event was attended by Mayor Darío Moreno, the athlete's coach, Wanderson Da Costa, and Aleix's family.
The national title, organised by the International Federation of Sports Jiu-Jitsu (FIJJD), counts towards the national ranking and adds to a brilliant season for the young fighter. In recent months, Aleix Rivas has achieved four more golds at the FIJJD World Cup, the AJP Tour Valencia, the AJP Tour Barcelona, and the Valencia BJJ Cup.
With these results, the Sagunto athlete's tally rises to six gold medals, two silvers, and one bronze, a remarkable record considering his young age. During the tribute, Mayor Darío Moreno praised Aleix's journey and emphasised that, due to his youth, he still has “a long career ahead of him.”

Moreno also wanted to highlight the young athlete's role as a reference for other children, for whom he said he is “an inspiration.” Both Aleix and his coach thanked their family for their support, which they consider “essential” for achieving these milestones. Da Costa, for his part, attributed his pupil's achievements to “his effort and dedication.”
The event, held in a close-knit atmosphere, reinforces the council's commitment to grassroots sports and the young talents of the locality. Aleix Rivas continues training in Sagunto with his sights set on the upcoming challenges of the season.
