The Ministry of Transport has tendered for improvement works on a section of the A7 that connects Sagunto and Museros. The investment exceeds 10 million euros.
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has put out to tender the surface rehabilitation of the A7 motorway between kilometres 306.7 and 314, in the section connecting Sagunto and Museros. The budget for the works amounts to 10.1 million euros (including VAT) and the announcement will be published soon in the Official State Gazette (BOE).
The works will consist of milling the existing pavement to a depth of 9 centimetres and subsequently replacing it with two layers of 8 and 3 centimetres, which will result in a rise of 2 centimetres compared to the existing surface. In areas where deterioration has affected lower layers, an additional milling of 6 centimetres will be carried out and replaced. The type of mix will vary according to the needs of each section.
Additionally, a reinforcement layer will be placed to prevent current cracks from propagating to the new pavement, the joints of the bridge deck located around kilometre 306.7 (between Sagunto and Puçol) will be replaced, and road markings will be repainted.
The mayor of Sagunto, Darío Moreno, has positively assessed the announcement from the Ministry. "The A7 is the artery that connects us to the metropolitan belt of Valencia", he noted, adding that it is used daily by thousands of citizens and transporters.
Rehabilitating it is investing in mobility and road safety, but also in the economic future of our city," the mayor highlighted.
The action is part of the Extraordinary Plan for improving the surfaces of the State Road Network, which has a total investment of 1.629 billion euros. The works will represent a significant improvement for drivers who use this busy section of the A7, heavily trafficked by light and heavy vehicles.
The execution period for the works has not been detailed in the announcement, but it is expected that the work will begin once the contract is awarded. During this time, drivers should be attentive to the diversions and traffic restrictions that will be established.
