The Off Romà of Sagunt a Escena brings the street show 'Chimera', a 6-metre dragon, to Puerto de Sagunto this Wednesday with traffic disruptions.
9 d'Octubre Avenue in Puerto de Sagunto will be the stage this Wednesday, August 19, for the passage of the mythological dragon 'Chimera', a roaming street theatre spectacle by the company La Fam, which is part of the Off Romà of Sagunt a Escena. The performance, suitable for all audiences, will take place from 21:00 to 22:00.
The route will begin at the roundabout near the Alameda and will proceed along the avenue to the roundabout of the old AHM Management, which connects with Virgen de los Dolores and Jerónimo Roure streets. There it will turn around and return to the starting point, where the performance will conclude with fireworks in the Alameda itself.
The proposal poses a question: what happens when humans fail to control machines? When Chimera awakens, taming it becomes an odyssey through the streets, a struggle between humans and machines. The creature, inspired by Greek mythology, is the offspring of Typhon and Echidna, a beast with dragon-like forms that roamed terrorising populations.
The spectacle revolves around a 6-metre tall, 12-metre long, and nearly 1,500-kilo dragon, manipulated by four actors. This enormous articulated puppet, constructed from iron, leather, and wood, comes to life and is capable of breathing fire from its mouth, smoke from its nose, moving its head, opening its wings, moving its tail, and walking on its huge legs.
To facilitate the setup, the company's truck will be located around 17:00 in the pedestrian crossing area connecting the Alameda with the bus stop on Trabajo Street. Once the setup is complete, it will park on Adolfo Suárez Avenue, next to the dirt area, until the performance concludes.
9 d'Octubre Avenue will be closed to traffic during the performance. After it concludes, the truck will return to the unloading area for disassembly, and normalcy will be restored on these roads.
