The works on the Almirall Carròs seaside promenade in Oliva will begin on September 21. The project, with a budget of €435,594.66, will renew the pavement and improve accessibility.
The Oliva Town Council has announced the start of the renovation works for the Almirall Carròs seaside promenade, in Sector 5, for next September 21. This comprehensive action aims to transform a space built in the early 1990s that has significantly deteriorated over time.
The total investment amounts to €435,594.66 (including VAT), fully funded by municipal funds. The contract was awarded on April 2, 2026, with a 1.76% reduction compared to the bidding budget, and although the works could have started at the end of June, the government team decided to postpone them until after the summer to avoid inconveniencing residents and visitors during the high season.
The project will replace the current concrete surface with a permeable pavement in sandy yellow and grey tones, which will enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility for people with reduced mobility or sensory limitations. The urban furniture, acquired in 2025 with Next Generation European funds from the Sustainable Tourism Plan in Destination (PSTD), will be removed during the works and relocated upon completion.
This promenade is very aged because it has been around for many years and the materials have worn out. This action will improve its appearance, giving it much more life, with brighter colours,” said the mayor of Oliva, Yolanda Pastor.
The expected execution period is 4 and a half months, so the promenade should be fully open by Easter 2027, when the beaches fill up with visitors again. The Urban Planning councillor, Joan Mata, highlighted that the renovation comes after efforts to install elevated walkways for beach access and renew public lighting.
The project has been drafted jointly for the Almirall Carròs and Muntanyars promenades, although only the first phase will be executed now. The unified design ensures that when the second phase in Muntanyars is activated, both promenades will maintain the same aesthetic.
The Town Council has sent a letter to the residents of the promenade to inform them of the start of the works and provide them with a channel to resolve incidents or suggestions.
