The Town Hall of L'Eliana values that the Generalitat has begun studies to improve the permeability of the municipality, following the conflict generated in December 2024 by the unilateral modification of the level crossing.
The Town Hall of L'Eliana has positively assessed that the Generalitat Valenciana has announced the start of technical studies to analyse alternatives that improve the permeability of the municipality, such as the creation of an underpass, a footbridge, or the council's request to bury the Metrovalencia tracks. This change of direction represents a shift from the position maintained by the Consell until now and a first step to correct a decision that was made unilaterally.
Although the situation has been presented as a “historic” problem, the current conflict originated in December 2024, when the Generalitat and Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana decided to modify the configuration of the level crossing without prior consensus with the Town Hall and the residents. This action provoked community mobilization and an institutional dispute that ultimately forced the Consell to rectify.
The Town Hall of L'Eliana has worked alongside community associations to propose a future alternative that reverses the situation, incorporating all necessary safety and accessibility measures or, if necessary, the burial of the tracks. This action would eliminate the railway barrier, improve safety, and connect both sides of the municipality.
The council reminds that this change in attitude responds to the Opinion of the Consultative Legal Council, which forced the Consell to reconsider its position and open a negotiation process with the Town Hall and the residents. The Town Hall hopes that this turning point is sincere and translates into concrete commitments.
From L'Eliana, there is a demand that the municipality receives the same treatment as other areas, such as Benimàmet, where the Generalitat has opted for significant railway integration solutions. Furthermore, the council insists that this process should correct years of lack of investment in the Line 2 of Metrovalencia, improving the frequency to 12-minute intervals towards Valencia, a demand from thousands of daily public transport users.
The Town Hall of L'Eliana will continue to firmly defend the interests of the municipality with institutional loyalty, will collaborate in all necessary technical studies, but will not renounce demanding a definitive, consensual solution that meets the needs of the residents.
