València's Fallero Museum has located among its collections the 1969 child ninot by Ramon Sanchis, which has been missing since the 90s. It will be restored to join the collection.
The Fallero Museum of València has recovered the 1969 child ninot, a piece believed to have been lost for over three decades. The figure, titled Tot és cant, belonged to the child falla Tot és cant i melodia from the Espartero-Ramón y Cajal commission and was found in the museum's cultural holdings.
The work, by artist Ramon Sanchis, depicts a blind man accompanied by a dog on a star-shaped pedestal. Sanchis was a regular contributor to the ninots indultats in the 60s, and the museum already holds other pieces by him from that era.
The ninot disappeared during the comprehensive renovation of the museum and the reorganisation of its collection in the 90s. Since then, the historical timeline of the exhibition jumped from 1968 to 1970, leaving a gap that is now being filled.
With this recovery, the museum completes the series of child ninots indultats from the late 60s, allowing for a tracing of the evolution of fallera modelling and sculpture from that period.
The restoration of the piece will begin immediately so that it can be incorporated into the collection as soon as possible. The Espartero-Ramón y Cajal commission has once again won this year's child ninot indultat at the Fallas of València.
