The XVII edition of the International València Dansa Campus has kicked off at the Sports and Cultural Complex of La Petxina with 153 participants, the highest number in its history.
The Sports and Cultural Complex of La Petxina, managed by the Municipal Sports Foundation of Valencia, is currently the venue for the XVII edition of the International València Dansa Campus. The event has opened with 153 dancers, the highest participation recorded in nearly two decades of this initiative.
The campus, organised by the Mediterranean Dance and Art Association (ADAM) with the support of the Hortensia Herrero Foundation, brings together students, pre-professional performers, and professionals from various parts of Spain and abroad over twelve days. The programme combines technical classes, physical preparation, classical repertoire, and choreographic workshops.
The Hortensia Herrero Foundation, which has supported the project for thirteen years, has once again made it possible for the campus to be held at La Petxina and also grants 15 scholarships to young dancers from the Valencian Community, five of which include accommodation and meals. This initiative aims to facilitate access for new talents to the training programme.
The Councillor for Sports, Rocío Gil, has described the event as "a great opportunity for València. We are talking about a decisive meeting for those starting to make their way in dance, and at the same time, it is an occasion to give visibility to the city beyond our borders: a few weeks where talent is formed, created, and where learning that perseverance in dance is everything".

The campus is presided over by the Valencian Gema Casino Penalba and artistically directed by Fabrice Edelmann and José Carlos Blanco. Among the faculty is Arantxa Argüelles, responsible for the classical repertoire, and choreographies by creators such as Nacho Duato, Sol León & Paul Lightfoot, and Jacopo Godani will be performed, allowing participants to experience different languages and styles first-hand.
This year's edition also expands the training stays at some of the leading European centres and companies. Entities such as the National Dance Company, The Stuttgart Ballet, Basel Ballet, Júnior Ballet Antwerp, València Dancing Forward, IT Danza, Dutch National Ballet Academy, and the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera, among others, are collaborating.
The concluding showcase of the campus will take place on 28 August, as reported by the organisation. With this event, La Petxina consolidates its position as a reference space for hosting major events related to sports, physical activity, and artistic disciplines, and reinforces the role of municipal facilities as a stage for internationally projected initiatives.
