Silvana Soler (Mariners) and Berta Galbis (Moros Espanyols) are declared winners of the XLI Children's Captains Contest in Ontinyent, held this Monday in the Plaza Mayor.
The Plaza Mayor of Ontinyent hosted this Monday the forty-first edition of the Children's Captains Contest, an event organized by the Society of Festers of the Most Holy Christ of Agony that tests the skills of the youngest in the art of leading a comparsa.
The winners were Silvana Soler, from the Mariners comparsa on the Christian side, and Berta Galbis, from the Moros Espanyols on the Moorish side. Both demonstrated their abilities before the large audience that gathered in the town centre.
The mayor of Ontinyent, Jorge Rodríguez, accompanied by councillor Ferran Gandia, attended the presentation of gifts and prizes to the participants and the winners. During the event, the mayor highlighted the high level of the children who took part in the contest.
The contest, which has established itself as a key event in the calendar leading up to the festivities, brings together young representatives from various local comparsas each year. The participation of the children and the festive atmosphere once again filled the Plaza Mayor, which became the perfect setting for this tradition.
