The Sagunt a Escena festival concludes its programme at the Roman Theatre with a concert by singer Estrella Morente this Saturday, August 22, at 22:30.
The Granada singer Estrella Morente will be responsible for bringing down the curtain on the stage programme of the Roman Theatre of Sagunto as part of the Sagunt a Escena festival. The event, scheduled for this Saturday, August 22, at 22:30, is organised by the Conselleria de Educación, Cultura y Universidades through the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC), in collaboration with the Diputación de Valencia and the Sagunto City Council.
Morente, considered one of the most unique voices in contemporary flamenco, will present a selection of songs from her career. Daughter of the late Enrique Morente, the artist has shared the stage with figures such as Lenny Kravitz, Björk, and has collaborated with Pedro Almodóvar on the main theme of his film Volver.
The concert promises a journey through her repertoire, which combines flamenco tradition with a contemporary vision, always accompanied by musicians who turn each performance into an unrepeatable ritual.
Off Romà: Valencian Circus
Before the concert, the Off Romà section will host two circus performances by Valencian companies. On Friday, August 21, at 20:00, the company El Cruce, formed by Rubén Río and Nicoletta Battaglia, will present Kossha at the Casa dels Berenguer. Absurd humour and live music will be the stars of a show that champions travelling variety performances.
On Saturday, also at 20:00, Trócola Circ will bring Juga to the Antigua Morería, a production that celebrates intergenerational encounters and advocates for public space as a place of coexistence and creativity. Inspired by toys and forms of entertainment from before the 1990s, the work invites audiences to remember games and traditions from cultural heritage.
Trócola Circ, founded in 2013, has received recognition for pieces such as Potted and Ludwigshafen. With these proposals, Sagunt a Escena concludes its stage programme, which has combined theatre, music, and circus in historical sites of the locality.
Tickets for the concert and the performances are available through the festival's usual channels. Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a final cultural evening in the privileged setting of the Roman Theatre, with the music of one of the great voices of flamenco.
