The municipality of L'Eliana has joined the Valencian Fund for Solidarity, an entity that brings together municipalities to cooperate on development and emergency projects.
The City Council of L'Eliana has formalised its incorporation into the Valencian Fund for Solidarity, an entity made up of municipalities and associations in the Valencian Community that develop joint cooperation and solidarity projects.
With this membership, the municipality will be able to pool resources and efforts with other localities to promote initiatives that would be more difficult to carry out individually.
The Fund works in areas such as equality, local development, youth participation, human rights, and international cooperation. It also coordinates aid in response to humanitarian emergencies caused by natural disasters or conflicts.
Furthermore, L'Eliana will be able to participate in activities for education and citizen awareness on solidarity, global inequalities, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The mayor, Salva Torrent, highlighted that this incorporation "reinforces the municipal commitment to the 2030 Agenda and allows for coordinated work with other municipalities to promote more effective cooperation and bring the values of solidarity closer to the citizens.
Joining the Valencian Fund provides the residents of L'Eliana with a direct channel to participate in cooperation programmes and to learn firsthand about the solidarity initiatives being promoted at the local level.
The City Council has not yet specified which concrete projects the municipality will develop under this membership, although the entity offers a catalogue of actions in which councils can engage according to their priorities.
