Valencia City Council begins improvement works at the Municipal Nursery School Pardalets, with an investment of €215,000 and a six-month timeline.
Valencia City Council has started the renovation works at the Municipal Nursery School Pardalets, located on Poeta Artola Street, in the Algirós district. The councillor for Technical Central Services and acting mayor, Julia Climent, visited the start of the works on Wednesday, which aim to address construction issues and adapt the building to current accessibility, safety, and health regulations.
The project, awarded to the company AC2 Obras y Servicios, has a budget of €215,513.10 and an execution period of six months. The works are expected to be completed by January 2027, and it has been planned so that the execution does not interrupt the centre's activities.
During the visit, Climent highlighted that “with the start of this reform, the City Council responds to needs identified in an essential municipal centre for the families of Algirós.” The project includes the comprehensive renewal of the waterproofing of the roof, correcting slopes to prevent leaks, repairing false ceilings, and rehabilitating façades.
The works also include the adaptation of evacuation routes, the expansion and replacement of doors, the renovation of unused toilets, and the creation of an accessible toilet. Interior finishes, cladding, and plumbing and electrical installations will be improved.
Additionally, new fire protection systems will be installed, including a network of fire hydrants, detection and alarm systems, signage, and emergency lighting. Air conditioning will also be installed in several classrooms, and the general electrical panel will be replaced, aiming to improve thermal comfort and safety.
The Pardalets school is a single-storey municipal building intended for early childhood education (0-3 years). It has eight authorised units and 120 school places, and is part of the municipal network of nursery schools.
Through the Education Service, the City Council reinforces its commitment to early childhood education and family reconciliation. The municipal network includes 12 nursery schools, and this reform is part of the ongoing improvement of its facilities.
Families in the Algirós district will see improved conditions at the centre without the works affecting the service, as it has been planned for activities to continue normally.
