Valencia City Council is advancing the construction of CEIP Sant Àngel de la Guarda, a public school that will serve the Parc d'Enginyers neighbourhood and is set to be ready by July 2027.
The councillor for Urbanism, Housing and Licences, Juan Giner, supervised the state of the works on the new CEIP Sant Àngel de la Guarda this Thursday, which Valencia City Council is building in the A.4-2 area of the Parc Central d'Enginyers, on San Vicent Màrtir street. The project, managed by the Urban Projects Service under the Edificant Plan, involves a public investment of €9.97 million.
The future centre will have 12 units of Early Childhood Education —3 for the first cycle (0-3 years) and 9 for the second cycle— and 18 units of Primary Education, as well as a dining room for 300 diners in two shifts and a gym with facilities for pilota valenciana (trinquet and galotxeta). It will be built on a plot of 11,994 square metres, with a constructed area of 6,600.87 square metres.
The works, awarded to the company Citanias Obras y Servicios, S.L.U., began on December 5, 2025, and have an execution period of 18 months, so they are expected to be completed by July 2027. Currently, work is being carried out on sanitation, foundations, and structure.
The students at the centre are currently studying in prefabricated classrooms located on Gaspar Aguilar Avenue since 2018. With this new infrastructure, the City Council aims to respond to the demand for school places in the area.
During the visit, Giner wanted to contrast municipal activity with that of the central government: “The activity of the municipal government in this area contrasts with the inaction of the Government of Spain in the construction of public housing that it has been promising for so many years but for which, so far, not a single crane has been put up.”
In this regard, the councillor recalled that the City Council has already granted “in less than two months the first building licence for Casa47 to begin construction, while continuing to wait to receive the licence request for the other plots owned by the State.” “While the City Council continues to build the facilities that will serve the future residents of the neighbourhood, we are still waiting for the Government to finally start the construction of housing and to continue requesting licences for the others,” he emphasised.
The new school adds to the facilities planned in the Parc d'Enginyers area, one of the major urban operations in the city, which also includes the construction of public housing and other amenities. The expectation is that the centre will open its doors for the 2027-2028 school year, once the works are completed and the building is equipped.
