The mayor of Ontinyent, Jorge Rodríguez, and the deputy president of the Diputación, Natàlia Enguix, participated in the official rehearsal of the Embassies, the last major event before the Setmana Gran.
The mayor of Ontinyent, Jorge Rodríguez, and the first deputy mayor and first deputy president of the Diputación of Valencia, Natàlia Enguix, participated this weekend in the traditional official rehearsal of the Embassies, held in the plaza de Baix. The event also brought together the president of the Society of Festers, Ricardo Calabuig, in one of the last appointments before the start of the Setmana Gran of the Moros y Cristianos festivities, which this year have been recognised as of International Tourist Interest.
During the rehearsal, Jorge Rodríguez highlighted the excitement of "feeling closely the emotion of our Moros y Cristianos festivities" and valued "the passion, effort, and affection that so many people put in to ensure every detail is perfect." For her part, Natàlia Enguix wanted to acknowledge the work and dedication of the ambassadors, "who for months prepare every verse, every gesture, and every word," as she stated.
The participation of municipal leaders underscores institutional support for a celebration that aims to establish itself as a tourist reference. The official rehearsal allows for the final touches of the embassies that will be represented during the main days, when the plaza de Baix will once again be the stage for this theatrical dialogue between Moors and Christians.
With this event, Ontinyent concludes the preparations for a week in which the streets will be filled with music, gunpowder, and tradition. Residents and visitors will be able to enjoy the embassies starting from the beginning of the Setmana Gran, which will kick off with the events scheduled by the Society of Festers.
