The Roman Theatre of Sagunto will host the performance of La dama boba on August 13 at 22:30, one of the most famous comedies by Lope de Vega, written in 1613. This performance is part of the 43rd edition of the Sagunt a Escena festival, organised by the Conselleria de Educación, Cultura y Universidades through the Institut Valencià de Cultura (IVC), in collaboration with the Diputación de Valencia and the Sagunto City Council.
The play presents the classic interplay between love and reason, featuring the usual misunderstandings, eccentric characters, and quick dialogues typical of the Golden Age playwright. The plot focuses on Finea, a woman who surprises everyone by revealing remarkable intelligence and cunning to become a discreet lady.
The direction is by Josep Maria Mestres, with text by Xus de la Cruz. The performance will be accessible for the inclusion and integration of all audiences, as reported by the festival's organisation.
Before the main performance, at 20:00, the Plaza Cronista Chabret will host Caso enterrado, a circus, dance, and physical theatre show by the Valencian company Colectiv Notknown. This piece, presented as the collective's first work, starts from a unique premise: the bicentennial ficus of the de la Cruz family has allegedly been murdered, and the four members of the clan become the main suspects.
The group, composed of four multidisciplinary artists trained at the Creat circus school, has had its debut recognised with the Premio Llavoretes 2024 from the Contorsions Festival in Valencia and the Premio Alacant a Escena 2025.
